Even more episodes that brought me down! I mean, they were funny as hell and definitely quality eps, but they were so anti-C/K I feel awfully dejected. Grrr! Is there nothing that can back up my enthusiasm over the (decidedly fanon, but still) pairing of those two?? Ryan and Colin was a fuggen walk in the park next to this.

I mean, crikey. There were plenty of opportunities to at least make an amiable gesture.... but no! They've each got their personal demons, but they never HELP each other in any way! In fact, they make it worse for each other. I know that that can make for interesting writing, but grrk!!

Okay, first episode. Really very bad, although it ended on a perfect note. See, Charles got a letter from Honoria that she was going to marry an Italian. Apparently this was a really big deal and Charles totally went berserk. ("Tony the Pony!!!!") So, okay, he was demanding that Klinger put through a wire to her so he could talk her out of it, and Klinger of course didn't see the problem, so Charles asked him how he'd like it if his sister were to marry a yellow skinned, uh... something... about olives. Okay, racial slur. Problem #1. Klinger got totally indignant on him saying how his mother and grandmother married men with dark skin and hair and some day Mrs. Max Klinger will too. Then he stormed off. Charles apparently hadn't been paying attention, because he just said "Did I say something to offend him?"

So, problem #1. In this episode Charles was really very racist. Now, from reading shit on jumptheshark.com, and just the simple fact of the end of the episode, I know that this is only a temporary problem and later on he's as liberal as apple pie, assuming apple pie is, in fact, liberal. It didn't surprise me because it was the 50's and the Winchesters were a very prestigious family and blah blah. But, yes, it does make the pairing of C/K look a little bit waning.

Or DOES IT? See, for the moment, while Charles was ranting about his sister marrying, he seemed to have forgotten that he was talking to someone who fit the physical description he was ranting about. In fact, he never did get the connection between Klinger and a non-aryan. Oh, sure, in other episodes he refers to him as the arab and stuff, and in the episode with the amphetimines he.. well, anyhow, it's sort of interesting, isn't it? To me, that says that although he sees Klinger as subordinate, he is NOT the sort of person that he would discourage against his family consorting with. Ah, a great leap, you say? Not entirely so! If that was so, you can bet that Charles would have knowingly compared the man Honoria was marrying with Klinger in some derogatory manner. And yes, I know Italian and Lebanese are two completely different ethnic groups, but it's a good sign nonetheless.

Not to mention, he came down on Irishmen later on in the same episode. ;)

Anyway, stuff, Hawkeye had this subplot in which he was going sober, and that was entertaining because he became a total maniac when he was off the sauce. So, Charles is racing around, writing letter after letter to Honoria begging her not to marry him, and then suddenly, what should happen but he gets a letter. And who's the company clerk, after all??

So, Klinger comes in, and Charles says something rude. Klinger tells him he really shouldn't say that (and he sits down on the bed... uh.. I think... I was too busy unrolling my eyelids) because he's got a letter for him. Charles freaks out and demands that he give it to him, and Klinger says "Not until you say 'Olive skin makes great kin!" or something fucky like that. Ha ha... physical domination kicks in and Klinger ends up on the floor. There was this great shot from above of Klinger staring upward and saying... dammit, something. I totally forget. I was too busy picking the pieces of my jaw up off the floor. And then Charles reads the letter and it turns out that the Italian dude's parents wouldn't let HIM marry her. Klinger kinda gloats and Charles is totally shocked and guess what happens then? Incoming wounded. So Charles is just standing there in shock and Klinger is calling to him to hurry the hell up, and ahh, he can be so tantalizing when he says "Maaaajor!"

Problem #2. Gloating in the face of adversity. Okay, Klinger was pretty good about giving the letter up after he wound up on his ass, but he wasn't exactly nice when it was clear that Charles was in emotional distress. *snorts* Not that he ever really is, I mean, look at Radar when he was leaving. "You can look at that any time! Come help me!!!!!! >O" So, I guess that's not such a bad thing. Besides, it was a grand moment.

Well, they get into the OR and guess what happens? Some guy with a hand grenade comes through and tries to blow the place up. It was kind of a stupid subplot, but it managed to tie up both Hawkeye and Charles' problems, so good for the hand grenade dude.

At the end, awwwwwww.... Charles sends Honoria a wire and talks about how he can't see her as the naive little sister he left behind anymore and he shouldn't be so overprotective, and that he sent her a bunch of narrow-minded letters. I almost wept... would that he were my brother. *whines* I'm a fake redhead....

Okay, second episode I'd already seen, it was the April Fools episode, which also turned out to be the same episode with Klinger's cleopatra outfit. OMG. Really no mutual scenes, so there was really nothing.

Uh... Whose Line bitching time.

Man, I just took a look at WL and when I saw Kathy, I started foaming at the mouth. Grrrrrrrrrr!!! >_

I can't believe you complained that much about the pairing being contentious. I know you were just a babby, but seriously. Contentious, codependent pairings are the best.
